Cruise on the Burgundy Canal

Burgundy Canal : Dijon to Vandenesse

Sunday
Map Vandenesse to Dijon At 4pm the Captain will meet you in the Arrivals Hall at the Dijon railway station or at another designated place in or around Dijon.
Mini-bus transfer to the Who Knows on the Burgundy Canal. Welcome aboard drinks.
Time to settle into your cabin and relax before your four course dinner.

Monday
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before our morning cruise.
We depart Dijon in the morning and cruise up the Canal du Bourgogne for the small town of Fleurey sur Ouche. Lunch is served on deck as the barge cruises through the tree lined valleys and out of Dijon past Lac Kir.
We moor in the town of Fleurey mid afternoon where we stay for the night. Afternoon visit to the Clos de Vougeot followed by a wine tasting. Return to the barge for dinner on board.
Tuesday
After an early breakfast, we head into Dijon city centre to experience the hustle and bustle of a real French market, packed with fresh farm produce and other delights to taste. Jason will guide you around before leaving you to explore. At the end of the visit, we meet at a designated Café for aperitifs and then head back to the Who Knows.
Lunch on board.
Setting sail in the afternoon for the village of Gissey sur Ouche along the Ouche Valley, noted for its steep sided tree lined dense deciduous forest, wild boar, deer and birds of prey.
The tow-path that follows the canal is excellent for walking and cycling.
We moor in the quite and picturesque village of Gissey sur Ouche. This evening's dinner is served in the Ferme Auberge de Rolle, renowned for the specialities cooked on an open fire.
Wednesday
Hospices de Beaune Breakfast on board. We depart for the historic town of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy. In the morning there is a guided visit of the world famous "Hotel Dieu" also known as Les Hospices de Beaune built in 1442 by the first Chancellor of Burgundy, Nicolas Rolin. The Hospice is now a museum and is still home to the famous wine auction that is held every year on the third Sunday of November.
Lunch is in one of Beaune's terraced restaurants which you select. Afterwards Jason will take you wine tasting at Patriarche Pere et Fils, the largest cellars in Burgundy, with more than 4 million bottles of wine. It is possible to have wine shipped back to you door step.
Return to the barge Who Know for dinner on board.
Thursday
Wine grapes After a leisurely breakfast, we set sail to head up stream towards Pont d'Ouche. The day is all about cruising with plenty of opportunity to cycle and walk along the tow-path, exploring small villages along the route. Lunch is served on deck and the barge moors up in the afternoon in Pont d'Ouche
Dinner on board.
Friday
Morning cruise through the final flight of locks to our destination of Vandenesse en Auxois.
The barge moors in the shadow of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a medieval village on a hill overlooking the canal. Lunch on board before we visit the village and castle of Châteauneuf en Auxois which offers a spectacular view of the region. The romantic setting of this medieval village is also host for this evening's dinner.
Saturday
After breakfast you will be transferred to Dijon railway station for your onward journey
Depending on starting point the itinerary may run in the opposite way
